Being a teen is a lot to navigate: school, friendships, identity, and the pressure to know who you want to be. Therapy gives teens a space of their own, and gives parents support too.
What teen therapy can help with
- Anxiety, stress and school pressure
- Depression and low self-esteem
- Identity, including LGBTQ+ identity
- Body image and eating concerns
- Friendships, social anxiety and loneliness
- Trauma and difficult experiences
- Navigating screens, social media and technology
Supporting parents, too
Parent-teen conflict is a natural part of growing up, but it can leave everyone feeling unheard. Clinicians can offer parent support alongside teen therapy, with clear roles agreed at the start: who the client is, what is shared, and what parent sessions are for. Parent support can include communication skills, boundaries, and how to respond when your teen's plans differ from your hopes for them.
Dr. Kassouf is a member of the AI Mental Health Collective and Therapists in Tech, and can offer evidence-informed guidance on screens, chatbot safety and parental controls.

Questions about therapy for teens
Will I know what my teen talks about in therapy?
It depends on the laws of the state where your teen receives care and on the circumstances of treatment. At the start, your clinician will review consent, how parents are involved, what information is and isn't shared, and the safety exceptions to confidentiality, so both teen and parent know what to expect.
Do you see teens online?
Yes, in California, and with Dr. Kassouf also in Florida, Hawaii and Virginia.
What ages do you see?
Dr. Kassouf and Dr. McCulloch see teens; Dr. Kimbell also works with children and families.
